Karin Lerew, R.N. to speak on
Hospice Services at FUMC
Paul Burleson
and promises to be a time of encour-
agement and enlightenment. The ser-
vice will begin with a combined
adult class at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday,
the first worship at 11:00 a.m., and
then each evening at 7:00 p.m. An
added opportunity will be noon lunch
(free of charge) Monday through
Wednesday, with Paul Burleson
teaching.
On Monday, April 29,2002, Karin
Lerew, R.N., will speak at the First
United Methodist Church at 7:00
p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The
public is invited to attend this one
hour seminar, at no cost, to explore
our options and choices in heath
care during the close of life.
Ms. Lerew is a community educa-
tor for the hospice program in
Wichita Falls. Lerew trains hospice
volunteers and works with families
as loved ones enter the hospice pro-
gram.
Hospice typicaly provides at-home
or residential services for people
who are nearing the end of their
earthly lives. They provide pain man-
agement, health care, and emotional
support for the patient, as well as
emotional support and respite care
for the family.
At some point in our lives, every-
one faces the death or dying of a
loved one. It is always to our advan-
tage to know what is abailable in
advance rather than trying to find
information and make such deci-
sions in the moment. Information
about hospice may be especially
useful to those taking care of aging
parents or who are aging themselves.
Hospice encourages families to talk
about the level of care an individual
wants as they near the end of life
before getting there.
Everyone in attendance will be
given information about hospice to
take home and look over at your
leisure, as well as to share with other
family members who may not be
able to attend.
Please contact Pastor Karrer at First
United Methodist Church in Archer
City with any questions about this
seminar at 940-574-4983. First
United Methodist Church is located
at 224 S. Center in Archer City.
