i The ladies were all neatly and
j prettily dressed and there were
I many charming personalities in
! the group. The music rendered
I by an Ojinaga string band was
good and the refreshments spread
before the guests were ample
i and toothsome. Wine flowed
freely and altogether we pro-
nounce it one of tho most enjoy-
able affairs we have witnessed in
the sleepy old town of Presidio.
A long life and a happy one was
the toast we extended the happy
pair in the name of the New Era
There is nothing doing on the
Orient between here and Chihua-
hua. The Hearst Oil prospecting
Company are ulso idle at this
time. Nothing moving in real
estate. Preparation for the
early spring planting is being
vigorously pushed however and
an extensive planting of wheat,
oats, barley, and early corn will
be made as soon as spring opens.
Our progressive citizens are put-
ing telephones in their homes,
and getting up to date.
The fuse is sizziling and the
boom will burst with great fury
when tho Orient road reaches
the liver. The weather is delight
ful down here, but that is a
normal condition. The telephone
fever has taken hold of the peo-
ple of I)cl Norte anda concession
has been asked for,the promotors
proposing to build from Pilares
to Mulato and thence to ban
Carles.
