FLOWER BOXES TO DECORATE MAIN STREET S^ZTStiS

The flower box project
proposed at the last meeting of
the Chamber of Commerce was
the object of invigorated
discussion at this week’s
meeting in the Elementary
School Library.
President Walter Merriman
reported that Wade Rowland of
the Throckmorton Lumber and
Construction Co. had volunteer-
ed to supply the necessary
redwood to construct the boxes
with, at cost. He added that it
was hoped that the actual
construction of the boxes could
be given to the FFA members as
a project for the coming
semester. Burton Hurley nod-
ded his approval at the
suggestion.
An enthusiastic discussion on
every imaginable aspect of the
boxes being placed, their size
and construction then ensued.
Time ran out, however, and it
was agreed to continue the
project at the next regular
meeting.
Hartsell Ash, president of the
Quarterback Club, reported to
the Chamber that approximately
$1500 had been raised toward
the purchase of the new Gym
Machine which will arrive at the
High School shortly. He further

Pancake Supper
Lion Henry Scarlett stated
that plans are beginning to take
shape concerning Throckmorton
Chapter of the Lion’s Club
International Pancake Supper to
be held in the cafetorium of the
Throckmorton High School this
coming Tuesday, January 29,
1974.
Lion Scarlett said that the
feed will start at 5:30 p.m. and
end at 7:00 p.m., so as not to
conflict with the Throckmorton
vs. Woodson basketball game to
begin at 7:30 p.m. in the High
School Gym.
Tickets will be sold at the door
only. There will be no advance
tickets sold. Price of admission
will be $1.25 per person. An
additional $.20 will be charged
for those desiring extra meat
and milk.
The menu will include all the
pancake you can eat, butter,
bacon and sausage, milk and
coffee.

to donate $100 to the QB Club
out of last year’s reserve fund.
Every seat in the library was
filled due to response obtained
from the telephone committee’s
calls placed ahead of the

ney, who was felled by a stroke
on 21st of October, 1973, is now
recovered enough to get around
with the use of his walker, and is
able to be back at his office.

he has been at home for the last
month or six weeks.
Baptist
Men’s Day
The role of men
will be emphasized Sunday,
January 27, when members of
the First Baptist Church observe
Baptist Men’s Day. Pete
Bradfield, pastor of the church,
said that Baptist Men’s Day will
pay tribute to more than 150
men who are members of the
congregation for the vital role
they play in the total task of the
church.
Several laymen will
participate in the days activites.
Hilton Keeter will bring the
devotional at our fellowship
breakfast Sunday morning at
7:30, Doyle Whitfield will bring
the morning message at 11:00
and John Tomlinson will sing.
All our men will fill the choir, a
mens quartet will highlight the
night service at 7:00. There will
also be testimonies and an
all-church fellowship following
the evening service.
The Throckmorton Tribune
has been authorized to an-
nounce in its columns that
William P. Ratliff of Haskell will
be a candidate for the office of
Judge of the 39th Judicial
District of Texas, composed of
Red Brown and Junior Burgess of the Texas Throckmorton, Haskell, Stone-
