July 10, 1931-----3 P.M.Chamber Board of Commissioners
City Hall, City of Abilene, Texas
The Board of Commissioners of the City of Abilene met in regular
session Friday July 10, 1931, with Mayor York present and presiding.
Commissioners present, Johnson, Sammons, Womack and Morrison. Commissioners
absent, None. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
JOE SHELTON’S VACATION Commissioner Johnson made a motion, duly seconded and carried,
AUTHORIZED that Mr. Joe Shelton be allowed a vacation beginning Thursday, July 16,1931.
All Commissioners voted "Aye”.
E .0 . DERRYBERRY’S Commissioner Womack made a motion, duly seconded and carried,
VACATION that E. 0. Derryberry be allowed a vacation for ten days beginning July 15,
AUTHORIZED 1931. All Commissioners voted "Aye”.
PAYROLL & VOUCHERS Commissioner Morrison made a motion, duly seconded and carried,
APPROVED that all payrolls presented and approved for payment and all vouchers
approved, Nos. 2470 B to 2543 B, inclusive, be allowed and ordered paid.
All Commissioners voted "Aye”.
AUDIT-DO NOT RAVE Commissioner Womack made a motion, duly seconded by Commissioner
NEW ONE' MADE Morrison, that the Commissioners do hot have another audit made. All
Commissioners voted "Aye".
PRISONER’S MEALS By motion of Commissioner Johnson, duly seconded and carried,
the bid of J. A. and Mrs. Kinser, Blue Bird Inn, was accepted for prisoners’
meals at thirty two and one-half cents per meal. All Commissioners voted
"Aye”.
0 .B. CHINN-REFUND ON Commissioner Sammons made a motion, duly seconded and carried,
OVERCHARGE ON authorizing the City Secretary to issue a voucher in favor of G.B. Chinn,
SEWER RATE for $8.00 out of the General Fund for refund on overcharge on sewer rate.
All Commissioners voted "Aye".PAYMENT OF DUES TO By motion of Commissioner Morrison, duly seconded and carried,
TEXAS LEAGUE the City Secretary was authorized to issue a voucher for $60.00 in favor
OF jjdUNICIPAL- of Texas League of Municipalities for dues for one year. All Commissioners
ITIES . voted "Aye".
CORRECT ERROR IN JUNE Commissioner Womack made a motion, duly seconded and carried,
DEPOSIT OF authorizing the City Secretary to "issue a voucher for $159.59 in favor
TAX DEPT . of the General Fund drawn on the School Refund Bond 1925 Fund as a transfer
to correct error in Deposit of June frcm Tax Department. All Commissioners
voted "Aye".
PAYMENT FOR REPLACING Commissioner Morrison made a motion, duly seconded and carried,
SIDEWALK- authorizing the ^ity Secretary to issue a voucher out of the Permanent
DR. J.M. AIEX-street Improvement kund for $109.60 in favor of Dr. J. M. Alexander, for
ANDER cost of replacing sidewalk adjacent to his property on Mulberry Street.
All Commissioners voted "Ays".
The Following Resolution was read before the Board:
PAVING-MULBERRY STREET RESOLUTION ACCEPTING IMPROVEMENTS ON A PORTION OF MULBERRY
STREET AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY SECRETARY TO ISSUE
CERTIFICATES.

WHEREAS, Contract for the making and constructing of street
improvements, consisting among other things of Warrenite Bitulithic pave-
ment, with concrete curbs and gutters, etc., on a portion of Mulberry
Street was entered into with West Texas Construction Company, and assess-
ments were levied against abutting property and the owners thereof, and
said Improvements have been completed on said street between the North
line of North First Street and the South line of North Seventh Street, and
have been inspected.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE
CITY OF ABILENE, THAT:
Said improvements on Mulberry Street, between said limits, be
and the same are hereby accepted.
The Mayor and City Secretary, be and they are hereby directed to
execute in the name of the City and deliver to West Texas Construction
Company certificates of special assessments in e vidence of the assessments'
levied against the property abutting on said street, between said limits,
and against the wners of such property.
Ill.
This Resolution shall not in anywise affect the liability of said
Company and its sureties to complete and carry out said contract as to the
remaining portions of the said street embraced in said contract.
