Chamber Board of Commissioners
City Hall, City of Abilene, Texas
The Board of Commissioners of ^he City of Abilene met in regular
session Friday July 17, 1931, with Mayor York present and presiding.
Commissioners present, Morrison, Womack, Sairmons and Johnson.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
PAYROLL & VOUCHERS Commissioner Womack made a motion, duly seconded and carried, that
APPROVED all payrolls presented and approved for payment and all vouchers approved,
Nos. 2551 B to 2565 B, inclusive, be allowed and ordered paid. All
Commissioners voted "Aye ff.
The following resolution was read before the Board:
FARM RENTAL CONTRA C IRE SOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE
0.3. BENNETT
A CONTRACT WITH O.H.BENNETT.
Whereas, 0. H. Bennett has proposed to rent the tract of land from
The City of Abilene, Texas as described in the contract to which this
resolution is attached according to the Trice and terms therein stated;
and
Whereas, this seems to the best advantage to the said city and its
inhabitants and there appears no good reason why the contract should not
be made:
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved By The Board of Commissioners of The
City of Abilene, Texas that the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized to
execute the said contract with 0. H. Bennett.
Passed and approved this the 17th day o f July 1931.

AL RESERVE RADIO Commissioner Sammons made a motion, duly seconded and carried,
TION-FIRE authorizing the installation of a Naval Reserve Radio Station in the
TION NO .2 kitchen at Fire Station No. Two. All Commissioners voted "Aye".
The following resolution was read before the Board:
PAVING- BUTTERNUT
STREET IMPROVEMENTS
A RESOLUTION CANCELLING A PORTION OF A RESOLUTION CANCELLING CONTRACTS
WITH WEST TEXAS CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR IMPROVEMENTS ON CERTAIN STREETS
Whereas, on the 30th day of May 1931 a resolution was passed can
celling certain contracts for improvements on certain streets in The
City of Abilene, Texas including improvements on Butternut Street;
And, Whereas, since said resolution was adopted it has become ap
parent that the property owners along Butternut Street want the said
impr ovement s; and
Whereas, the said resolution was subject to the approval of the
West Texas Construction Company and said company has never approved
same and the City has ho fight to breach a contract for said Company;
And, Whereas, the said Company is willing to proceed with the
improver© nts under the original plan and any risk in the proceedings
is the risk of the company and not the City;
Hoy, Therefore, Be It Resolved By The Board of Commissioners of
The City of Abilene, Texas that said resolution so adopted on the 30th
day of May 1931 is so far as it has to do with butternut Street and the
proposed improvements thereon, be and the same is hereby cancelled and
held for naught.
Passed and approved this the 17th day of July 1931.
