Chamber Board of Commissioners
City Hall, City of Abilene, Texas
The Board of Commissioners of The City of Abilene, Texas met m
in regular Session Friday October , 1931, with Mayor York present and
presiding. Commissioners present Morrison, Johnson, Sammons and Womack.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
HEARING OF GAS COMPANIESJpon motion of Commissioner Sammons, duly seconded and carried,
RECESSED the hearing of the gas companies was recessed until Thursday October 15,
1931 at 9 o’clock A. M. All Commissioners voted "Aye”.
DAIRY PERMIT- • • Commissioner Johnson made amotion, duly seconded and carried,
R.L.BURTON that a dairy permit be granted to R. L. Burton. All Commissioners voted
"Aye".
PAYROLL & VOUCHERS Commissioner Womack made a motion, duly seconded and carried,
APPROVED that all payrolls presented and approved for payment and all vouchers
Nos. 3185 B to 3240 B, Inclusive, be allowed and ordered paid. All
Commissioners voted "Aye".
DAIRY PERMIT- Commissioner Johnson made a motion, duly seconded and carried,
TRIIETT RUCKER that a dairy permit be granted to Truefet Rucker. All Commissioners
voted "Aye".
BOND APPROVED-G .W . By motion of Commissioner Johnson, duly seconded and carried,
PRESTON the bond of G. W. Preston was approved. All Commissioners voted "Aye".
HOTEL PERMIT-J .H .ROBY By motion of Commissioner Johnson, duly seconded and carried,
a Hotel Permit was granted to J. H. Roby. All Commissioners voted "Aye";
GAS PLUMBERS BOND & Commissioner Womack made a motion, duly seconded and carried,
PERMIT APPROV.that the bonds be approved and permits be granted to L. W. Johnston,
L.W.JOHNSTON lor Gas Plumbing and Plumbing work. All Commissloners voted "Aye".
PAYMENT TO G .W .BAGGETT Cormni ssio ner Womack made a motion, duly seconded and carried,
FOR SHEET IRGlinstructing the City Secretary to Issue a voucher out of the Park Fund
FOR SIGNS for $4.00 in favor of G. W. Baggett for sheet iron for signs. All
Commissioners voted "Aye".
RETIRE 1 FUNDING WARRANICominissioner Womack made a motion, duly seconded and carried,
SERIES 1931 authorizing a voucher issued in favor of the Citizens National Bank
for $1,000.00 out of the Schocbl Bond Fund 1925, to retire one Funding
Warrant, Series 1931. All Commissioners voted "Aye".
PAYMENT FOR REPAIRS ON By motion of Commissioner Womack, duly seconded and carried,
HOT WATER the City Secretary was authorized to issue a voucher for $18.48 in
HEATER-CITY favor of D. A. Martin ouit of the General Fund for repairs on Hot ’Water
HALL heater In City Halil All Commis sione rs voted "Aye".
PAYMENT FOR INSTALLING By motion of Commissioner Johnson, duly seconded and carried,
SINK IN POLICEthe City Secretary was authorized to issue a voucer for $30.00 in
DEPT favor of D. A, Martin out of the General Fund for installing sink in
dark room of Police Department. All Commi ssiore r s voted "Aye".
PAYMENT FOR BLDG .DRIVE-By motion of Commissioner Morrison, duly seconded and carried,
WAY ON BUTTER-the City Secretary was tuthorizwd to issue a voucher in favor of John
NUT ST. Haile for $4.00 for B uilding driveway on Butternut Stree't in front of
City of Abilene property. All Commissioners voted "Aye".
PICTURE SHOWS PERMITTED Commi ssio ner Johnson made a motion, seconded by Commissioner ,
OPEN ON SUNDAYVlorrison, that the Picture Shows in the Citv of Abilene be perm: tted
FROM 1-7 P .M. to open on Sunday.from One to Seven P. M. Commissioners Johnson,
Sammons, & Morrison voted "Aye". Commissioner Womack and Mayor voted "No".
PAYMENT TO G .B .SNODGRASSBy motion of Commissioner Johnson, duly seconded and carried,
ALTERATIONS ONthe City Secretary was an thorized to issue a voucher out of the General
CITY JAIL Fund for $595.00 in favor of G. B. Snodgrass for Alterations on City
Jail, All Commissioners voted "Aye".
PAYMENT TO G .B .SNODGRASSCommissioner Womack made a motion, duly seconded and carried,
REFAIRINGBUNKSduthorizing the City Secretary to issue a voucher for $37.72 out of the
MOVING COUNTERzeneral Fund in favor of G. B. Snodgrass for Repairing bunks and moving
IN WATER OFFICfEhem to new location^ and for moving counter in Water Office. All
