It was Christmas morning. An old
man sto&d with ba.rti and bowed
head beiore The great cathedral.
Chimes pealed tcrth me glad mes-

is come." The hour was early for
pasaers-by, and the man had
thought himself alone until a youth
touched him saying:
"Can I help you sir?"
The worshipper looked up. Ob-
serving a tool box swun^ over the
lad'r. shoulder, he exclaimed* *'A
carpenter!"
"No; a carpenter's son. Father has
an emergency call this morning.
He is not well, and I'm carrying his
heavy tools."
"I see." said the man. “and you
also wanted to fcelp me. Good boy.

the Christ-like spirit. Thank you.

I just paused to consider that oth-

doing good."
“I know." said the boy, "the

when a hundred and fifty chorus
girls start tripping the light fantas-
tic. there is not only a seven ton
ctress oil the flow at each stomp,
but the whole building rocks danger-
ously, unles sit is of special con-

Chorus dancing may be fantas-
tic, but it certainly is not light, say
the engineers.
Make a budding chorus girl
proof and you make it earthquake
proof, they declare.
It's the same old racket as the
trotting dog swaying the bridge, or
the soldiers breaking step when the
march across a bridge. The rhyg
thm is the thing.
When each chorus girlie stomps,
she {tuts down a 30 pound stress.
When a hundred and fifty do it,

In every new-born little child.
In every soul that finds the light;
In every truth that comes to men.
In every conquest of the right;
Ir. every sigh of human love
That comfort brings to hearts

Again the angels ^ake their songs.
Again the Prince of Peace is born.

And they who hope, and work with
cheer.
And bear in patience what they
must.
And wait for sorrow’s far-off fruit,
And fill their lives with lowly
trust—
Their eyes* made clear from films
of sin.
By faith’s pure love, and love’s
increase,
halSl always see the star that lights
The birthplace of the Prince of
Peace.

The “radio microphone” may be
the next great sound recording in-
vention. Hollywood sound engineers
are working on a practical means
of sending electro-sound vibrations
from flying airplanes ot a central
recording plant on the ground be-
low, eliminating all the complicat-
ed wiring now required to connect
the microphones to the recording
instruments, cameras and 1 power
plants, all of which must be syn-
chroniBed.
If the technique is developed suf-
ficiently, it is planned to use it in
Charles Rogers forthcoming avia-
tion picture.

All round about their feet shall

A light that sages never saw;

And keep their natures fresh as

Shall every day hear angels sing,
“Today the Prince of Peace is
born.”
Christmes Legend in Sweden
There is a legend in Sweden that
the Christmas tree sprang from
the soil where two true lovers died,
the candles standing “for remem-
brance.”
The Bears Head
The Christmas custom of “bring-
ing in the boar's head” dates back
to the Druids, whose deity. Freya,
the goddess of peace and plenty,
rode a golden boar.
