WEATHERFORD, Oct. 30. —
(INS.‘—Two physicians were called
as expert witnesses for the prose-
cution today and disagreed as to
whether Judge R. H. Hamilton shot
his youthful, unwanted, son-in-law,
Tom Walton, in the back or from
the front, when Walton was slain In
the Amarillo attorney^ office on
May 4th.
Dr. J. H. Vaughn, who examined
Walton’s body said that he had
reached the conclusion that two
of the four shots killing the young
student struck him in the back.
Dr. J. R. Wrather. who also exam-
ined the body, said the wounds
were inflicted from the front.
Physicians agree that the wound
in Walton's abdomen was made
by a bullet fired as he faced the
gun. Young Walton was appar-
ently unarmed when shot down,
two witnesses testified.
The defense began laying the
foundation for the indicated self-
defense plea. It was brought out
that the sheriff did not look under
Walton’s body and could not say
whether there was a weapon on
him. The defense also emphasized
that Walton's right hand was near
his right hip. Sheriff Walton tes-
tified that he searched the body
a few minutes after the shooting
-and said he found no weapons in
the clothes. He and Dr. Wrather
testified that there was no evidence I
of a struggle having taken place
where the killing occurred. A j
book case -glass was broken but
Hamilton showed no signs of hav-
ing engaged in a physical en-
counter.
