Photograph of a Alabama land deed for 220 acres belonging to Garrison Deens. it is signed by President James Buchanan on November 1, 1858. Mr. Deens sold this land to James O. Sellers in 1859 or 1860. Mr. Sellers was Ethel Bryant's grandfather. This photo was included in a research paper by Mike Shurley for an American History class at Marfa High School in 1968.

This image was scanned from the negative of the photograph. It shows the buildings of the Blackwell School in Marfa, Texas. In the foreground, the ground is bare dirt and the buildings are in the background. There are at least three different white buildings with many windows and doors. The building in the middle has the name of the school visible over the door. There are shrubs planted against the walls of the buildings. To the right, there is a flagpole (but no flag), a bare tree, and some other shrubs. A handwritten note on the back of the print says, "Blackwell School about 1940."

The woman to the far right is older and has a dark tie at her throat and is holding a white, lacy parasol. Behind them, there is a tree and some bushes and several buildings are visible in the background. The names "Jessie," "Aunt Hennie," and "Granny" are handwritten from left to right over the women. On the back of the photograph, there is a handwritten note that says "Jessie Bogel Hubbard (Mrs. Harry J.), Genevieve (Hennie) Bogel, Sarah Newton Bogel (Mrs. W. W.), at Bogel residence, 220 W. Bootleggers
Photograph of bootleggers, most likely during prohibition. The Mexicans regularly smuggled sotol, a drink similar to tequila, across the border near the Big Bend area of West Texas. These men have a barrel and some bottles of alcohol on the ground next to them.

Buildings At Old Fort Davis - Fort Davis, Texas
This photograph shows four two-story buildings in front of the rocky cliff of a mountain. In the foreground, there is an area covered with scrub and what looks like an unpaved road and telephone poles in front of the buildings. The buildings to the far left and right look a bit weathered and old, but could still be in use and the one near the center has a pickup truck parked outside. The next building to the right appears to be abandoned and is sagging and falling apart; it looks as though it is made of wood although the others seem to be brick.
