Lift or Elevator.

Description: Patent for a new and improved elevator. This design "consists in the construction of the operating mechanism . . . whereby the mechanism may be regulated or adjusted to run fast or slow, according to the weight of the load to be carried, it being adjusted to run slow, but with great power, when heavy loads are to be lifted, but to run fast, but with lesser power, when lighter loads are to be lifted" (lines 28-37).
