Agricultural Implement.
Patent for a new and improved sweep. This design consists "in a sweep of a suitable shape and construction having attached to each of its rear corners a vertical bar or wings, which extends parallel to the course of the plow and backward a suitable distance beyond the sweep proper . . . The object of [the] invention is to attach to the rear corners or wings of a sweep bars or runners, which rest upon the ground and steady the sweep and prevent it from wabbling or dodging while in use" (lines 14-25).
Apparatus for the Manufacture of Ice.
Patent for a new and improved ice maker. This design calls for "two or more sheets of galvanized iron or other metal set in a tank of fresh water, one on either side of the evaporation-pipes, and held in a position parallel to each other by anchors or yokes that connect them" (lines 15-20). This eliminates the need for strong (ammoniacal) brine and is a faster, more reliable, and less leaky ice-making process than previous ones that used said brine.

Locomotive Head-Light
Patent for improvements to locomotive headlights granted to John Robert McCormick in order to make the headlights movable by levers or gears.
Manual-Training Apparatus.
Patent for a new improvement in a manual training apparatus for teaching swimming without water. The device allows the exerciser to lie face down on the provided mat and turn cranks to simulate swimming motions.
Millstone-Dress.
Patent for an improved millstone-dress that produce less heat while grinding by employing a greater number of furrows, including illustration.
Nut and Washer for Vehicle Axles.
Patent for a new and improved nut and washer combination. This design consists, "with a threaded end on an axle-spindle, which is longitudinally grooved on opposite sides of the thread, and a radially-flanged nut made to engage the threaded-end of the spindle, of a cap-ring having an annular recess formed on one side from its inner edge outwardly, said ring being secured upon the radial flange of the nut, and a cylindrical outer shell having an inwardly-extended flange on one end, and ears on the edge of said flange, which hook over the reduced edge of the cap-ring" (lines 20-31).
Portable Fan and Operating Machinery for Same.
Patent for a new and improved fan. This design "is fluted or corrugated . . . its lines of corrugation radiating from a common point. By this peculiar formation [it is] enabled to concentrate the surrounding air during its movement, and direct and carry it in a body back and forth . . . [and a] heavy bead or bar follows the zigzag or corrugated outline of the bottom of the fan, and serves as a weight to keep it tending downward toward a position of rest. . . . The frame carrying the fan is supported upon standards provided with broad footings . . . by which the fan may be readily moved" (lines 16-35).
Safety Stop for Elevators.
Patent for a new and improved safety stop for elevators. This design "consists in a lever pivoted to the bottom of the car, and provided with a spring for throwing it into position transversely to the car-bottom, so that the ends of the lever can catch on horizontal bars secured to the sides of the elevator-shaft. A rope or cable is secured to one end of the lever and to the car-elevating cable, and keeps the spring taut, and prevents it from throwing the lever unless the elevating-cable breaks" (lines 11-20).

Shutter Fastener.
Patent for a new and improved blind fastening. This design "relates to an improvement in fastenings for outside blinds, shutters, or the like, and the purpose of [the] device is to provide a fastening that cannot be unlocked from the outside, even though slats be cut from the blinds or shutters to which the fastening is applied and two hands or arms are thrust through within reach of the said fastening. [The] fastening has two catching-latches, one locking and holding latch, and one bolt, all to be operated simultaneously when the blind is closed against the sill, [so] said blind may be released" (lines 12-24).
