Description: Letter from John Todd Willis, Jr. to his parents Clara and John T. Willis, Sr. on July 1, 1944, discussing a bottle of Italian beer he and his fellow soldiers were given, which he thinks is rotten but the rest of them seem to enjoy. From now on, he says, the soldiers will get one bottle a week. The army recently installed a drinking fountain in the town for the soldiers' use. The Italians, who Willis says have never seen one before, are intrigued by it, although they don't know how to use it.

He also mentions that the potato crop was plentiful, and he and his friend Harmon Gilbreath have been frying lots of potatoes.

Description: Interview with Eugene Cronin, a US Army Air Corps WWII veteran and POW from Kansas City, Missouri. Cronin discusses his time as a B-24 crewmember stationed at Cerignola, Italy, the kinds of missions flown, his being shot down over Hungary and captured by the German Army, and his experiences in captivity at Vienna, Frankfurt, and Stalag Luft #1 near Barth in Western Pommerania.

Description: Cablegram addressed to Kempner at the Palace Hotel Milano asking him to urge Mattioli to send the September bids and expressing disappointment that Heller isn't going to Sweden sooner. A written response in D. W. Kempner's handwriting says that Heller believes he was following what was discussed by phone.
