The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an oral interview with Albert Sackett. Sackett was born in Victor, Iowa on 24 June 1920. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Navy in July 1937. Following basic training at Great Lakes, Illinois he was assigned to the heavy cruiser USS Northampton (CA-26) as a Machinist’s Mate.
