Aerial View of Denton State School

Description: Aerial view of the Denton State School, a “state supported living center that serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems.” The 189-acre campus is located south-southeast of Denton. In 1957 the “citizens of Denton County raised $102,000 and donated it to buy land for the school” Construction began in 1959 and was completed in July 1960.”

Description: C.I.A girl's basketball team; many of the players are unidentified. C.I.A later became Texas Woman's University. Based upon their uniforms, this appears to be members from the time period of 1917-1918. First row, third from the left: Tennis Florey, who was a guard in 1918. Middle row, fourth from the left: Thelma Crawford, guard in 1918.

Description: 1921 Lewisville High School football team coach, Lee Preston, with unidentified team members arrayed in offensive playing positions in front of the school. The only identified member is Sulton John Boyd, third from the right. Sulton was the grandson of Susan McCombs Boyd and the son of George Taylor Boyd.
