Description: Aerial view of the Denton State School, a “state supported living center that serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems.” The 189-acre campus is located south-southeast of Denton. In 1957 the “citizens of Denton County raised $102,000 and donated it to buy land for the school” Construction began in 1959 and was completed in July 1960.”
