Description: Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design "is to provide a cheap, durable, and simple car-coupling, which shall be automatic and positive in its action, and which uses the ordinary link and takes the draft in the same way as the common pin, and which will also fit any car, and will not get out of order from being battered. Car Coupling.

Description: Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design consists in "the link having a hooked front end, the lever, spring between the front end of the lever and the link, slide-bar pivoted to the rear end of the lever, the spring-actuated latch on the said bar, having the pin thereon to engage in a socket in the bottom of the car, and the retractile spring at the outer end of the lever" (lines 11-19).

Burglar Alarm.

Description: Patent for a new and improved burglar alarm. This design "consists in a wire attached to the anchor or escapement-lever of a clock-work for ringing or sounding an alarm bell, which wire has a hook at its outer end, which is passed into a loop, ring, or hook at the end of a wire connected with the key-bolt or knob-bolt of a lock, or with a wire leading to places a considerable difference from the alarm" (lines 11-18).
