The fire company was located on the south side of Tyler Street between Fredonia and Center streets. City Hall was located upstairs. There are three horse-drawn fire carts parked outside the station.

[Fire Wagon]

Photograph of a horse-drawn fire wagon stopped in the middle of an un-paved main street in front of a row of storefronts; a sign on the wagon says "Colorado No. 2, A Unit for the Dam, 44 Members - Strong." Fire-Escape.

Patent for a fire escape "with a cord or rope of suitable length which has at one end a weight to serve as a projectile to facilitate throwing the cord or rope to a person at any part of the burning building, after which the fire-escape or other device necessary for the purpose may be conveniently elevated to the window or other portion of the building where most needed for the rescue of person or property" (lines 14-22). It is adapted to assist firemen.

Fire-Extinguishing Apparatus.

Patent for a fire-extinguishing apparatus designed for use in gin-mills, saw-mills, factories, and other buildings. The operator can quickly turn on a stream of water and extinguish the flames. The apparatus is a valved supply-pipe connected to a boiler, branch pipes extend from the supply-pipe, and discharge nozzles are connected and are flexible.
