Description: Patent for a new and improved apparatus for treating and preserving. This design "insure[s] the complete and perfect treatment or impregnation of timber of varying hardness and density, and to provide a portable organization of apparatus by which timber at various points or stations along the line of a railroad can be treated with great facility, efficiency, and economy" (lines 12-19).

Combined Cotton Seed and Corn Planter.

Description: Patent for a new and improved combined cotton seed and corn planter. This design is especially "for seeding cotton; but the machine is converted into a corn-planter by detaching the bottom of the hopper, removing the space-block, disconnecting the pitman, and then removing the slide, and substituting in lieu thereof a device composed of a bottom, having a seed-opening, and a bridge-form metallic striker, arranged across the same, and a dropper-slide, having dropper holes" (lines 95-2).

Reflector for Lamps.

Description: Patent for a new and improved reflector for oil lamps. This design "consists in the peculiar construction and arrangement of the parts, whereby the handle and reflector can readily be detached from the lamp-body and replaced thereon when desired" (lines 15-19). Further, the handle has a hole by which it can be hung.
