SAN ANGELO TEX. OCT. 21 1003
A Successful Cnrmvnl.
The Carnival of 1S)0!J is u mat-
ter of hifttory. There wore doubt-
less inint iikcH niadn Thero are
doubtlt'BH people mho think that
certain thingH Hliould Imvo l-uun
dono difl'orently. At any rnto and
from any view-point tlio carnival
thin year wiih a lingo huccosh.
Not only did tiling go oil' woll
at tlio groundi; not only woro the
attraction! bettor than over here-
tofore; not only wan tlio affair
bettor advertiflod and had a larger
attendance than any provious
show but tho whole thing look-
ing at it from the biiHinoHs inan'f
Btandpoint wiih a bettor attrac-
tion for tlio town. Tho merchants
who put up their moiioy that the
carnival might roceivn the impe-
tus essential to u good beginning
and a successful termination are
thoroughly satisfied with results
Every day during carnival week
have been haiuii-r days with tlu
merchants. 1'iess advertisers par-
ticularly report grand results from
the space so judiciously utilized in
tho columns of this paper. Every-
body feels good that the results
aro as they were and ovorybody is
satisfied. Now the next thing is
getting in lino for a good fall bus-
iness and incidentally remember
ing that Christmas is coming and
that the people who road the Press
(thoro aro 2f00 of thoni) buy
goods.
'Hah I for tho carnival and 'rah I
for the management. More success
to them
A Greater Snn Angelo.
San Angolo as a railway point
is one of tho best on the Santa
Fo svfltom. Ft may bo tho host.
Statistics aro nob at hand to provo
or disprove this statement. Cer-
tainly it is tho host of its size. It
is the best town of its size in
Texas.
During tho month of Septem-
ber there woro 010 trunks brought
into and curried out of San An-
golo by the Santa Ko. This means
that tho revenue dorivod from tho
sulo of tickets in Angolo is a very
neat sum. The fi eight shipments
from and to tho Queen City of tho
West aro enormous No town in
Texas equals it considering popu-
lation. Now San Angelo ought to havo
two things which tho railroad
could supply if they would. They
urp a double daily passenger ser-
vice and a bettor depot. Thoro is
a way to go about getting theso
improvements. Possibly tho time
