Open House At Schools
Tuesday Night During
Nov. Education Week
Nov. 15 through Nov. 19th
is American Education Week.
Open house at the elemen-
tary schools will be from 6:30
to 7:30 Tuesday night. Stu-
dent’s work will be on display
and the teachers will be
available to visit with parents
according to Principal R.T,

City Council Meets,
Has Varied Agenda
The council for the City
of White Deer met in regular
session November 8 with
Mayor Virgil James presiding.
Aidermen Owen Lafferty,
Dean Wyatt, Cohen Gallegly
and Harry Hughes were pre-
sent with Mrs. Orville B.
Craig, Jr. and Lenard L.
Pair. Auditor Wayne Brown,
Pampa and special guests
Haskel McLane and James
McLane attended from Pampa.
McLane, Pampa builder,
discussed a prospective deve-
lopment east of White Deer.
Auditor Wayne Brown pre-
sented the City's financial
report for quarters ending
6-30-76 and 9-30-76.
Appointments of a Board
of Directors for the new
Community Center were dis-
cussed. Mayor Virgil James
will make contacts from a
list of prospective citizens to
serve.
Cathodic protection for the
Gas System's distribution
lines will have top priority
of urgent business. An engi-
. neer will be consulted. The
Railroad Commission has

New Alco Discount
Store Being Built
In Coronado Center
Construction has commen-
ced on expansion and up-
dating of Coronado Center
in Pampa, Texas. First con-
struction phase includes a
36,175 square foot facility
for Alco Discount Store, sch-
eduled to open in the Spring
of 1977. The contract for
the construction of this fac-
ility was awarded to Hogan-
Schuneman Construction
Company, General Contrac-
tors of Pampa, Texas.
Alco Stores are operated
by Duckwall Stores, Inc. of
Abilene, Kansas who have
operated a variety store in
Coronado. Center for over
twelve years. Alco chain op-
erates stores in Kansas, .Colo-
rado, New Mexico, Nebraska,
Iowa and this will be their
first store in Texas.
Bill Adams, Manager of
Coronado Center, stated an

School Board Fiscal
Audit For 1975-76
The Board of education of
White Deer Independent
School District held their
regular meeting for the
month of November on
Monday night, November
8, 1976 at 7:30 p. m. Mem-
bers present were Morris
Brame, Darrel Cathey, W, J,
Houghton, Gary L. Walker,
Owen M. Kramer and Mike
Germany. H. P, Barnard was
absent. Also present were
Superintendent of Schools
R. W. Standefer, Jr., High
School Principal Weyland
Snipes and Tax Assessor-
Collector Markham D.
Waddill, As part of a col-
lege course at West Texas
State University, Mrs.
Caren Kensing was a visitor
to observe school board
proceedings.
Vice-President Morris Brame
presided over the meeting
in the absence of President
H. P. Barnard. Business trans-
acted included approval of
the agenda for the meeting;
approval of the minutes of
the October 11th. meeting;
and approval of the accounts
payable for the month of
October.
Approval of the fiscal audit
for 1975-76, prepared by
Cornell & Co., auditors of
Amarillo, Texas was accept-
ed for delivery to the Texas
Education Agency. The
financial condition of the
School District will appear in
the White Deer News the
next two weeks.
Final payment in the
amount of $33, 687. 50 was
approved for Wiley Hicks,

Miss Adelle Harrell,
School Librarian,
Dies In Amarillo
Word was received Tues-
day morning of the death
of Miss Adelle Harrell of
Memphis. Miss Harrell
served as Librarian for the
White Deer Independent
School District during the
1975-1976 school year. She
was born in Memphis, at-
tended Memphis High School
Clarendon Junior College,
Texas State College for
Women, West Texas State
University and North Texas
State University with a B.S,
degree from WTSU.
In addition to White Deer
she had taught in area
schools of Phillips, Quail
and New Deal.
November Clinic Schedule
A free clinic is being of-
fered today (Thursday) from
1 to 4 p. m. at Carver Center,
321 W. Albert, Pampa. The
clinic is offering vaccines
that give protection against
several childhood diseases;
polio, diphtheria, lock jaw,
whooping cough, measles and
rubella. There will be no
charge.
Methodists To Hold
Special Services Here
A "Jesus Weekend" with
Rev. Jack Wolf will be held
at the White Deer Methodist
Church Friday, November 19th
through Sunday morning, Nov-
ember 21st.
Rev. Wolf, a native of
Vega, is 27 years old and is
presently enrolled in South-
western Theological Seminary,
Ft. Worth.
David and Amy Black,
Miami, will be in charge of
the music for the meetings.
Services will begin at 7
p. m. on Friday and Saturday .
Saturday morning a breakfast
for all youth will be at 7:30
in Fellowship Hall. At 12 noon
there will be a Burger Bash
for all ages.
The youth are planning a
chili supper from 4:30 to 6:30
Saturday evening. Tickets
are selling for $1. 50 - adults,
and 75<t for children.
After each night service
there will be a Afterglow with
coffee, cool-aid and cookies.
Everyone is encouraged to at-
tend this series of meeting.
District Governor To
Visit Lions Club
Tuesday Night
Lions District Governor,
Jimmie Pigman of Dalhart,
is visiting the White Deer
Lions Club on November
16 at their regular meet-
ing announced Boss Lion
Waddill of the local club.
Mr. Pigman, serves as
District Governor for the
seventy Lions Clubs of Lions
International's, Distrip/2.-Tl
and also serves as chairman
of the council of District
Governors for the State of
Texas. The District Gov-
ernor will be bringing the
local Lions a message con-
cerning the service of the
Lions in the District, State,
and throughout the world.
His visit is also to commend
the local Lions Club for its
projects of service to its
community.

Rodney Miller, James Pryor
and Randy Baldridge.

can exist without the services
of dedicated reserves. They
work hard all season long
and contribute daily to the
ongoing success of the team.
We are lucky' to have men
like these to help make
our team winners, " said
Coach Mike Purcell.

Twelve Senior Bucks
To Complete Season
The Bucks assured them-
selves of at least a five
hundred season last Friday
night when they overpowered
the Stinnett Rattlers 20-0,
The loss raised the Bucks'
district record to 3 and 2 and
paved the way- for the final
game show down between
White De er-and Sanford-
Fritch next Friday at Fritch.
The Bucks were lead by
Steve Williams who carried
the ball 15 times for 183
yards and one TD. The score
came on an 85 yard run at
the close of the first quarter
and gave the Bucks a 6-0
lead. Bobby Ensor's kick
was good and the Bucks were
ahead to stay.
"Our line blocked very
well. " stated Coach Purcell.
Randy Baldridge, Kavin
Skaggs, Rodney Miller and
the Armstrong brothers were
credited with fine blocking
all night long. "Any time
you can gain 306 yards on
the ground, you know those
people up front are doing
their job well, " stated Pur-
cell. Other rushers for White
V Deer included Don Webb
with 71 yards, Dean Bennett
e with 33, and Tim Simpson
had 2 carries for 15 yards.
"The most pleasing thing
& to me, " stated Purcell,
"was that we cut down on our
i turnovers. " White Deer only
gave the ball up 3 times (two
fumbles and one interception).
White Deer's second touch-
down came just before half-
time when Don Webb kept
the ball around right end and
■i scampered 7 yards to pay
dirt. Again Ensor's kick was
true and the score was 14-0.
The last score came in the
fourth quarter when Webb
repeated his earlier scoring
sj. play from two yards out.
j Williams lead the Buck
T* defense with 9 tackles from

backing tandum of Bobby
Tollison and Dean Bennett
played well all night as did
Rusty and Dusty Armstrong,

Mrs. Theresa Click
Buried Here Monday
Mrs. Theresa Click, 81,
of 7211 Montague, Amarillo,
died Saturday. Services
were Monday at St. Joseph's
Catholic Church, by the
Rev. Richard MacLellan,
pastor. Graveside services
were a 1 p. m. at White Deer
Cemetery. Burial was by
Schooler-Gordon Funeral
Directors.
Mrs. Click was an Am-
arillo resident for 25 years.
She had lived in the White
Deer area most of her life.
Survivors include a son,
James of Amarillo; three
brothers, Henry Rapstine
of Pampa, Ben Rapstine of
White Deer, and Johnny Rap-
stine of Los Angeles, Calif-
ornia; three sisters, Mrs.
Regina Saunders and Mrs.
Lillie DeAlesso, both of
Amarillo, and Mrs. Mary
Anderwald of Tulia; and
three grandchildren.
Students Out Monday
There will be no school
Monday. This marks the
end of the first quarter and
teachers will use this day as
a Record Day.
