day hundreds of telegrams all over the state endorsing his
message to the people appealing for supremacy of the law
and the active help of every citizen in seeing that it is
maintained inviolate in letter and spirit.
The response has been equaled by that to no other
gubernatorial address in years and apparently determines
a ground swell throughout the state in support of law and
order and against the further toleration of "the robber
the thief the burglar the gambler the bootlegger and the
murderer laughing to scorn and debauching some of the
sworn officers of the state."
