Notes

Additional historical information: The University of Texas opened its doors in 1883. By 1890, the first residence hall, University Hall or B Hall, opened its doors to house 58 male students. In 1903, the first university-funded residence hall, the Women's Building, opened its doors to 72 female students. The Women's Building was dedicated to holistic education and development of women and was equipped and staffed with a gymnasium, swimming tank, kitchen, reception area, a housekeeper, a matron, and a physical directress.
