Old Settlers Association of Grayson County
Minutes ofe May 18, 2000 Meeting
At the Steak Country restaurant trustees of the Old Settlers Association gathered for
their annual spring meeting. Present were: Charles Britt, R. C. Vaugtan, Mike Allen, Ray
Stephens, John Biggerstaff, Clyde Hall, and Joe Wolfe, president. Trustees Bill Wilcox, Bill
Collins, and Robert Hynds were excused.
Minutes of the December 9, 1999 meeting were approved, with one correction noted
(Dodson, rather than Dotson).
December 31, 1999 financial statements were discussed and approved. During the
discussion, it was reported that one of the portfolio securities had been called and would be
replaced by treasury or federal agency securities. After discussion possible association
donations for 2000 the following were approved:

History Scholarship (800) 2000
Austin College:
Peter W Grayson Fellowship 4000

Red River Historical Museum 2000

During discussion as to historical markers, a report was received on the status of the
Jesse P Loving application; the application has received Texas Historical Commission staff
approval and has been submitted to the commission's board for action. For 2000 trustees
approved application for a marker for Mattie Davis Lucas, pre-eminent county historian during
the first half of the twentieth century. Copies of a paper describing her contributions were
distributed to trustees.
President Wolfe reported on correspondence received, expressing appreciation for
association donations, from organizations and individuals (students).
John Ramsey, of Bells, was elected to fill the vacancy created by the death of Joe
Washburn.
As a final matter, R C Vaughan, on behalf of all other trustees, presented plaques to Joe
Wolfe, as president, and Clyde Hall, as secretary-treasurer, for their extended service to the
association.
At 2:20 the president gaveled the meeting to a close.
