Coming to Hear Her Sing.
The Canyon City Stayer, in its
"Notes of the Reunion," has the
following to say of the musical abil-
ities of Mrs. Leoti Sypert Clark :
Mrs. Ciarle, of Hereford, ren-
dered a solo one night that was a
surprise as it was not known that
any one in this country possessed
such a voice. It is a clear, sweet
soprano, showing exquisite feeling
and good range. It was our misfor-
tune to miss her number but as we
are a crank on good voices we are
going to Hereford some time pur-
posely to hear her sing.
Buys 507 Twos.
Lake, Tomb & Co., the well
known Kansas City cattle ctealers,
this week bought through A. P.
Murchiscn, the livestock broker, a
bunch cf 507 two-year-old steers,
which were shipped on Wednesday
to their ranch in North Dakota.
They were purchased from the fol-
lowing parties: L. B. Culwell,
217; H." M. Jackson, 186; C. L.
Sullivan, 44; Mr. Murphy, 60.
Besides their large ranch proper-
ties in the Dakotas, this firm has a
large ranch in the Panhandle, known
as the "Nun" ranch, of which Bird
Rose is the genial and able mana-
ger.
One Prospector's Views.
"The rapid advancement and
growth of Hereford and surrounding
country is wonderful," said a gentle-
man who visited here last week after
an absence of about eight months
and who, on his former visit, pur-
chased some land. Said he, "I
bought land here last summer, mere-
ly as a speculation, but it is not for
sale now, as I intend to become a
resident in ycur beautiful country in
the near future—as soon as 1 can
shape up ray business elsewhere in
order to make the move." And
many others are talking the same
way. Why not get out of the drouth,
stricken districts and come to a land
