his rights and possessions, even
if he doesn’t practice such a life
himself.
Getting back now to the
“harsh” Ten Commandments,
let’s see if the LAW OF LOVE
described in the New Testa-
ment wasn’t also present in the
Old Testament. Or did it begin
with Christ?
Back in the book of Leviticus,
we read, “Thou shalt LOVE
thy neighbor as thyself” (Lev.
19:18).
God also told Moses, “And
thou shalt LOVE the Lord thy
God with all thine heart, and
with all thy soul, and with all
thy might” (Deut. 6:5).
Even the Apostle John ex-
plained that this was no new
law which Christ brought in
the New Testament: “Brethren,
I write NO NEW commandment
unto you, but anOLDcommand-
ment which ye had from the
beginning” (I John 2:7).
Yes, all of the commandments
are rules of LOVE.

“Love worketh no ill to his
neighbor therefore love IS the
fulfilling of the law” (Romans
13:10).
So what is the Bible defini-
tion of love? Love is the keep-
ing, the observing, the doing of
God’s Commandments.
In I John 5:3 we read, “For
this IS the love of God, that
we KEEP His Commandments.”
The only difference between
Old Testament believers and
those in the New Testament
concerns the “Spirit of the
law.”
In the Old Testament, the
commandments were to be kept
to the LETTER of the law.
Today, we must not only DO or
obey the commandments, but we
must also THINK thoughts of
love, not transgressing the
commandments in our own
heart.
In other words, Jesus came
not to DO AWAY with His Fa-
ther’s commandments, but ra-
ther to MAGNIFY them — make
them even more binding on our
lives.
How, then, can we even begin
to keep and obey God’s com-
mandments if even our thoughts

The stability of a national
economy may be measured by
many means. One of the best
measures is long range security
assurance to the individual citi-
zen.
Life insurance is one form
of long range security. Indivi-
duals in the United States own
more than a trillion dollars of
life insurance.
This giant investment in the
future is one of the major
forces responsible for the pro-
gressive growth of the Ameri-
can economy. It is good evidence
that the American is basically
prudent and that immediate
consumer spending rests on a
good cushion of assets.
Ironically, the American in-
cause us to break them?
In the New Testament times
we have given a special POWER
— not oi ourself — to enable
us to begin obeying God both
in letter and in the intent or
spirit of the law.
In Paul’s letter to the Ro-
mans we read: “The love of
God is shed abroad in our
hearts by the Holy Spirit which
is given unto us” (Rom. 5:5).
With the power of God in our
lives, we can obey God both in
mind and action. Of course, this
obedience is not from ourself.
It’s the spirit (mind and power)
of God working in us that makes
it possible.
God’s laws are GOOD. They
will last FOREVER. They are
not done away with, as some
think.
Whenever we break them, we
cause only misery and heart-
ache to ourself and those around
us.
It’s the disobedience to these
laws that’s causing all the wars,
crime, broken homes, disen-
chanted youth, povety and all
the troubles of this world, management

surance business is largely a
creature of advertising. Al-
though advertising has been
blamed forcausingunnecessary
spending it may be credited
with stimulating organized sav-
ings and financial security pro-
grams of fantastic scope.
Since the turn of the century,
insurance companies have been
among the largest and most
consistent of advertisers. In-
surance advertising has more
than kept pace with the increase
in per capita income. Even
non-profit insurance programs
are advertised extensively.
In recent years local agencies
have learned that the least ex-
pensive step to a final sales is
consistent newspaper advertis-
ing.
Insurance companies,invest-
ment brokers, banks and sav-
ings associations use advertis-
ing just as a retailer does. The
consumer needs information on
how to save just as he does
on how to spend.
