MEMORIAL--ODELL V. ROBINSON

WHEREAS, A truly outstanding educator, Odell V. Robinson, died in
Houston, Texas, on March 10, 1972; and
WHEREAS, He was born on December 31, 1900, in Midway, Madison
County, Texas, and devoted his life to the education of young people; he
served as teacher at various rural schools in Madison County during the
1920's; and
WHEREAS, He became the first school superintendent for Channel-
view in 1930, superintendent of schools and head coach at North Zulch
from 1932 to 1938, and was principal of Alvin Junior High from 1938 to
1953; and
WIHEREAS, The citizens of Alvin elected him as their mayor in 1957,
and one year later he resigned in order that he might run for the office of
