For The Town And Country—Nothing On Their Part

meet the following members of
the C B Live Stock Company,
this week who are here in the
interest of Crosbyton, and her
people:
f E. P. Bailey,
J. S. Coonley,
P. L. Coonley,
Avery Coouley,
and Julian M. Bassett.
We have in a general way gone
over the prospects of the future
for Crosby ton and it is an assured
fact that these men are well
pleased with the progress of the
town, and thedevelopmentof the
country. They say that all that
is needed to make a city is the
people and that it is a sure thing
that they will come.'
They are well pleased to know
thatthere are-few discouraged
people over the dry weather.and
all agree that the man that stays
is the man that will get rich with
the country.
It is hard for the people of the
East and North to realize what is
being done in Crosby ton; it is
like this, less than a year ago
there was not a house on the
town section,.as it stands today;
it was a cowrange, and the home
of the prairie dog, but today we
have one of the fastest growing
towns in this section of the state.
There is now one of the finest
lumber yards in th<r country,
carrying one of the largest stocks
on the plains, a fine livery stable,
and wagon yard, one of the larg-
est supply stores to be found on
the plains, carrying a $40,000.00
of the
Crosbyton has a printing plant,
and a little newspaper.
When we come to consider the
rapid growth, the veritable
chang £8 from a cow range to a
a town like this fifty miles from
a railroad, in so short a time it is
plainly to be seen that Crosbyton
is made up of the proper kind
of folks, just such people as do
things, and that the promoters
of the town is willing to do all
they can for the success of every
enterprise that comes to Crosby-
ton is already evidenced. The
,000.00 in this ma

The above named members of
the C B Live Stock Company are
just such men as any community
would be proud of. they are men
that hold high places in the
financial world, and as their com-
pany is one among the strongest
doing business in the western
country we all feel that nothing
is too great for us to undertake,
when we have the unselfish sup-
port of these people, they feel
that every man that comes to
Crosbyton is entitled to make
aud that we Bave the water with-
in four miles of us, and that this
supply of water is such that it
will furnish us power for all
necessary factories, and mills, it
is reasonable to come to the con-
clusion that the spot where Cros-
byton now stands, was in crea-
tion allotted for the town site of
a city, the location is the most
ideal.
The 8th, day of June will be
the day set apart for the meeting
of the Federation of Commercial
Clubs and Newspaper men of the
Plains Panhandle and South
one of the best grocery
stores, where, also a good stock
of dry goods are handled, one of
the finest gifts In the country;
one of the finest machine ..and
blacksmith shops -on the plains,
a fine line of confectioneries, and
cold drinks, and one of the best
post office buildings in the coun-
try, a fine concrete barbar shop,
with fine equipment, two of the
finest hotels in the county, a fine
concrete works, one of j the finest
bank buildings,on the plains, and
as fine as is to be found in the
state, built of stone quarried in
Crosby County and within four

West Texas stands today wher®
Oklahoma did a few years ago.
Cities sprung up on the prarie in
Oklahoma in a night Where
there were tents a few years ago
there 'stands solid brick and con-
crete buildings ranging from two
to a dozen stories in hjeight Such
are the results of the} opening up
of these new countries.- ^People
who have been living in the over-
crowded east, hear of the new
countries and hearing they come
to see. Breathing the fresh air
of the country, they do not hes-
itate to stay where every pros-
pect pleases. The tide has start-
ed to west Texas and Jt&e Cros-
byton country is getting its share
of these crowds coming in.
Unique in west Texas the Cros-
byton country has an abundance
of good, pure, wholesome, spark-
water. -
State excels us in
and few equal us. We are fort-
unately situated so far as cli-

H. H. McDermett and Family
Mr. and Mrs. McDermett moved to Crosby county nineteen years ago. Since coming to Crosby
county six of the above children hav e been born. The entire family are living, and all except one
.are residents of Crosby county. The most remarkable thin&about this family, is the fact that there
has never been a physician called to see one of these children. Severd! of them are grown and
have families and have never seep,a sick day. that speaks for the healthfulness of Crosby county.
These people are all well fixed in this worlds goods and stand high in society.
Stamford and Northwestern rail-
road «has been surveyed to within
fourlniles of Crosbyton, and it is
believed that it will be built be-
Crosbyton. The fact that in our
recent election for an independ-
ent school district tKat there was
not a ainsrlo vote against it fur-
