Show-Oif Antics
Show Immaturity
By ALICIA MART
,\ K \ Staff Writer
I How good are your manners
when you are away from the
careful coaching of pa rents at
home? The answer will give you
a gootl clue as to how "grown-
up" you really are.
If you learn to show a thought-
ful regard for the rights of
others and to shun "show-off"
antics, you'll earn your reputa-
tion for being a well-mannered
land mature young lady.
Mannerisms whuh attract un-
I favorable attention usually mark
| a girl as childish. Tops on the
list of attention-getters are hab-
its of chattering noisily in a
[quiet theater and shrieking a
greeting to a friend across a ho-
tel lobby or restaurant. Run-
ner.s-up for unpopularity with
grown-ups art the nabits of com-
j menting in audible whispers
i about the physical appearance
of a stranger or giggling reac-
tions to nothing except what is
known to a couple of immature
girls.
As guilty as bad-mannered im-
maturity are girls who stroll in
|a group with arms linked along
a public sidewalk and form a
bulwark that forces other pedes-
trians to step aside. As incon-
siderate of others is the act of
ganging up for conversation at
I the entrance or at the elevator
of a busy store.

Here 's a NEW
party-fine
customer/
This little fellow may be enjoying the protection of a
telephone because you are sharing telephone service
with his family or some other family on a party line.
Were it not for party lines, thousands of people—
now being served—would still be waiting for tele-
phones despite all the effort we've been able to put
into the manufacture and installation of new tele-
phone equipment.
If you are on a party line, you'll find courtesy and
neighborly co-operation pay big dividends in better
service. A party-liner who is thoughtful of the other
fellow may well find that the other fellow
will be thoughtful of him.
