HERE'S just one reason why more
men wear Blue Buckle Overalls than
any other brand in the world.
It's because they know that every pair
always gives full value—because they
are sure of long wear and solid comfort
every time.
Denim of the toughestquality.widedouble-stitchedseams,
a strong, solid back-band and A-l workmanship throughout
make Blue Buckles stand the hardest kind of wear. They
are big and roomy, with riveted brass buttons, best quality
buckles and loops and big reinforced pockets placed so you
never sit on them. Blue Buckles have extra broad suspenders.
Ask for Blue Buckles the next time you buy overalls.

(By Dr. Frank Crane)
Follow the world's richest
young man one day.
Consider John D. Rockefeller,
Jr., and his doings on April 5th,
1920.
As one of the workers in the
missionary campaign of the In-
terchurch Movement, a combina-
tion of many religious organiza-
tions for the purpose of raising
a vast sum to promote co-opera-
tive welfare work all over the
world, he arrived on the above!
elate by special car at the rail-
way station at Baltimore, M:tr\-j
land.
He was whisked in an automp-;
bile to the Citq Club—where he!
made a speech for his cause be-
fore 500 Baltimore business men. |
A day of activities followed,
concluded in the evening by a
banquet in Washington where
former Secretary of State Lans-
ing presided and many govern-
ment officials and other notables
were present.
What was he trying to do? He
was doing his part in an effort!
to unify the work of the chur-j
ches, and to make Christianity i
more efficient by co-operation.
As, for instance, he said:
"I don't know of a thing else
than the teachings of the Carp-
enter of Nazareth that will set
this world right. The Golden
Rule must be put into effect in
business life to insure the safety
of business and the happiness of
our people.
"We must get efficiency into
our religion. That is the purpose
of the Interchurch movement.
We are going to try to survey
conditions throughout the world
and through this movement thir-
ty denominations will discover
what they must do to be effi-
cient. Force has failed to rule
this world; diplomacy has fail-
ed; now we must organize the
power of love and see what it
will do to set the world straight
again."
Let us not here discuss the
ethics of the Rockefeller for-
tune, or the uses of the Protes-
tant churches, or any other eco-
nomic or social problem; let us
for a moment not try to say any-
thing clever, bitter, or deep; but
let us simply note the difference
between this day's action of the
ehiefest of our rich young men
and those of other days.
In other limes the favorite of
fortune would have been (1)
building a huge country house
wherein to play and to be waited
on by an army of servants, (2)
killing things, pheasants or pea-
sants, (3) organizing his retain-
ers to go out and loot among his
neighbors, (4) straining every
effort to achieve distinction at
the court of the king, (5) build-
ing huge barracks where men
and women could withdraw them
selves from the work of the
world and wait for death, (6) ac-
cumulating mistresses and was-
trel companions, spending his
days in bed and his nights ia
drunkenness and lewdness, (7)
and altogether following the best
traditions of the rich in making
this world a harder place to live
in, spoiling and dirtying it for
simpler and better folk.
That the darling of destiny is
disposed to be decent and wants
to HELP, is not that something'?
