<$> PRE-OPENING
Committee arrives early to arrange room and to
set up tree and any decorations. Exhibit tables are
prepared to show parents and visitors what the
boys have been doing. Give everybody a chance to
see the grand total of projects at this meeting be-
fore turning things over to their separate recipients.
Display samples of gifts for Moms and Dads
(without the names), repaired toys, Christmas
cards, games, decorations etc. Before going to the
separate meeting, each boy places his repaired toy
on the chair he will sit in.
SEPARATE MEETINGS
Cub Scouts meet with the Assistant Cubmaster
and Den Chiefs to prepare their homemade decora-
tions for the tree and get ready for their grand
entry. Each Den has a Cub Scout Santa whose sack
contains their Den's Good Will contribution. These
boys will assist the real Santa when he arrives.
Parents meet with the Cubmaster who informs
them about the Pack's plans for next month's theme
and how they can work with their sons.
MAIN PART OF THE MEETING
Opening Ceremony. Each Den parades in, led by
the Denner, the Assistant Denner carrying the Den
Flag and the other Cub Scouts and their Santa and
Den Chief following. They might form a circle
around the tree and while everybody sings a carol
(song sheets for parents) each Den, in turn, steps
forward and places its homemade decorations on
the tree (yes, each boy gets his to take home) and
then take their seats by Dens.
Den Good Will Ceremony. The house lights go
out, and the tree lights on. Three Cub Scouts dressed
in dark robes appear in the beam of a flashlight.
On the chest of each is a black placard with a white
hand giving the Cub Scout Sign. The tall one in
the center speaks or the narrator reads for panto-
mine action.
"We are the spirits of the Cub Scout Secret mean-
ings. I am Helps. (Steps forward.) These are my
close brothers, Follows and Gives (who bow low
with great dignity). Each year at Christmas we
rejoice in the friendly deeds performed by all Cub
Scouts. Our symbol of service is a helping hand
with the Cub Scout Sign. Let us hear at this time
what Good Will Projects our Dens have prepared."
Each Den representative very briefly describes
his Den's contribution prepared with the Den Moth-
er's help and the Pack chairman expresses thanks
to Pack for their work.
ADVANCEMENTS AND
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Include any necessary. This is a party so make
them brief and simple. Cubmaster explains next
month's theme and special features to the boys.
CHRISTMAS PARTY TIME
At this point Santa Claus appears to distribute
gifts to all with the help of his Junior Santas from
each Den. He gives a little speech. Everybody sings
"Santa Claus Is Coming To Town." Cub Scouts have
gifts for their parents to open as a surprise. Refresh-
ments are served in true party style. Here is where
a committee of mothers can help.
Select a good song leader and sing some Christ-
mas carols.
CLOSING
Form a big circle around the tree. Give the Cub
Scout Promise and then in unison say, "A Merry
Christmas to all — and to all a good night."
