haired, buxom women with cheeks like rosy apples skimming
along as though they had wings - in their laughter a merry
challenge to the wind .

Rich trappings, a hint of strange perfume, jewels of somber
glow with hidden fire, long black hair entwined with pearls
and flowers, lithe, graceful bodies of smooth, glowing tawn-
iness, untold wealth, fathomless mystery...............

This world dull? With all this lying beyond our horizons?

Prayer for Youth
God, if I should
In these inceptive years,
Forget the simple things of life
Like the feel of sweat on my brow
Or the salty taste of tears;
If I become too proud
To love the smell of dewy grass,
The morning sun, dirt smeared in my face;
If I forget these things
Then, God, put me in my place.
I want courage, God, and strength
That I may be strong
To overcome the problems on my way,
But not too much strength, God,
Lest I forget I need to pray.
