Howard Payne's 1990 Homecoming activities included two special dedication ceremonies.
On Saturday, students, faculty and alumni gathered by the Fleming Building to view the
dedication ceremony for the new band hall/studio complex. The ceremony included comments
from Dr. Newbury, music by the HPU band and a groundbreaking for the building.
Also on Saturday, a dedication ceremony was held for the Centennial Plaza located in the mall
area. The Plaza serves as a reminder of Howard Payne's past, and hope for the future. Names of
alumni and friends are engraved on the bricks.Taking part in the groundbreaking ceremonies are, from left, Greg Berry, Craig Hughes, Dr. George Baker,
Rev. Doug Holtzclaw, Doyle Combs, Dr. Don Newbury, Jessie Doyle, Al Faetche and James Orr.Dr. Newbury addresses the crowd prior to
the groundbreaking ceremony.The Centennial Plaza serves as a reminder
of the past, and hope for the future.Receiving much attention during the weekend is the Centennial Plaza, which includes bricks
