16 EXPENSES
3. EXPENSES
The basic expenses for a college education
at Hardin-Simmons University, as at
all colleges, have necessarily increased
with rising living costs. The University
maintains these charges at the lowest figure
consistent with satisfactory service
and sound education. Approximately 50
per cent of University costs are paid by
student tuition, fees, room, and meals;
and 50 per cent of the costs are subsidized
by gifts.
One factor of importance is that the
social, cultural, and recreational opportunities
at HSU are available at little or no
extra cost and enable those students who
must be cautious in their spending to live
happily and without embarrassment.
Payment of Accounts
Registration is not complete until one of
the following has been accomplished: (1)
tuition, fees, room and board have been
paid in full, (2) arrangements for installment
payments have been made through
the Business Office, or (3) financial aid
has been offered by the student financial
Tuition:aid office. All registrants who elect options
(2) or (3) above must follow through on
their registration financial commitments
and pay all charges in full prior to the end
of the semester. Student transcripts and
diplomas will not be released for students
who fail to meet this requirement.
The Business Office accepts VISA or
MASTERCARD and also offers students
an installment payment method, referred
to as the Budget Payment Plan. This is an
installment plan whereby the student may
pay one-fourth down at registration, and
make three additional equal payments
during the semester. The four equal payments
will be determined after deducting
approved scholarships, grants, or loans
from the total amount. A service fee of
1.5% per month (18% annual rate) is
charged for the Budget Payment Plan
service.
Because economic conditions fluctuate,
the University reserves the right to
change tuition, room, and board and other
charges at the beginning of any
semester.Tuition per semester hour ......................................... .. $107.00
