Turner Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship has been established
by Mr. and Mrs. John E. Turner and will
become functional when the corpus
reaches $5,000. It will be made available
through the Student Aid Committee. It will
be granted to a qualifying student who
maintains a 2.50 GPA.
University Women's Club Memorial
Scholarship
A This annual award of over $300 per year
has been endowed by the University
Women's Club of Hardin-Simmons University
in honor of those faculty-staff women
- who have retired from the active service of
the University. (This amount will increase
depending upon interest earned.) This
award will be granted to a worthy and
needy student who (1) holds a 3.00 grade
point average; (2) has been a student of
HSU for at least one year; (3) is a full-time
student, and (4) is classified as a junior or
senior.
The award may be continued if the
recipient maintains a cumulative grade
- point average of 3.00.
Waller/Lawrence Endowed
Scholarship
The Waller/Lawrence Endowed Scholarship
in Church Music and/or Religious
Education was established by Robert M.
(Bob) and Charlene Waller Lawrence in
honor of her parents Mr. and Mrs. C. B.
Waller of Stephens County. The income
from this endowment is to be awarded
annually to a deserving student (or students)
planning a career in Church Music
and/or Religious Education. At the discretion
of the Dean of the School of Music
and Dean of the Logsdon School of Theology,
the scholarship will be awarded alternately,
divided between two students, or
-- awarded to a single student planning to
do combination Church Music and Religious
Education.
- Kenneth and Mary Sue Whisenant
Endowed Music Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the
Whisenants to benefit music majors. Mrs.
Whisenant, a former music major at Hardin-Simmons,
says she and her husbandrecognize the heavy load a music major
carries and they wish to help relieve the
pressure of finances for a deserving student.
The proceeds from the endowment
will be awarded as a scholarship each
year to a music major by the School of
Music Scholarship Committee.
The G. R. White Presidential
Scholarship
The G. R. White Trust of Fort Worth has
established this fund to assist worthy
Texas students who attend Hardin-Simmons
University. Proceeds from this
endowment will be awarded by the President
of the University.
The Claudie Park Wilson and Stanley
P. Wilson Endowed Scholarship
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley P. Wilson established
this scholarship fund in order to
assist some worthy student or students in
obtaining a Christian education. The
scholarship will be awarded annually by
the President of Hardin-Simmons University,
and will be known as the Claudie Park
Wilson and Stanley P. Wilson Endowed
Presidential Scholarships.
The Crissa Wood Royal Endowed
Scholarship
This scholarship was established as a
living memorial to Mrs. Crissa Wood
Royal, Hardin-Simmons University graduate
of 1955, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. L. D.
Wood and wife of Reverend Eugene S.
Royal. It is awarded annually to a student
majoring in Elementary Education at the
undergraduate level. Selection will be by
the Student Aid Committee upon recommendation
by the Dean of the Irvin School
of Education. This fund provides approximately
$500 annually.
The Everett E. and Orabeth K. Woods
Social Work Scholarship
This scholarship has been established
by Mr. and Mrs. Everett E. Woods of Abilene.
The earnings from this endowed
scholarship will go toward the payment of
tuition for an ethnic minority student who
maintains at least a 2.50 GPA in their pursuit
of a degree in social work.
