4305 Oral Communication in Organizations
- (3-3-0)
The study of communication networks and
styles operant in organizations, and the role of
the communication professional in those struca-
tures. Laboratory experiences in five basic
kinds of interviews, discussion, conference
methods, and committee management, report
making, and speaking from manuscript.
, Prerequisite is one of the following: SPCH
1301, 1302, BSAD 3302, or permission of
instructor.
4332 Instructional Media (3-3-0)
(Also EDUC 4332.)
This course will explore the use of instructional
media in the teaching experience. Emphasis
will be given to the communication process
model and its relationship to the development,
selection, and use of instructional materials.
User skills of various audiovisual equipment will
be developed through demonstration and
hands-on experience. The production of audiovisual
materials by students will be the result of
sessions on graphics, sound production, and
photography.

2199, 2299, 2399, 2499 Special Topics
A special interest course focusing on selected
topics not otherwise offered at this level. May

2335 Play Production (3-2-X)
An analysis of the organizational and technical
aspects of producing the play. Design and con"
struction techniques of scenery, costumes,
make-up, and props are examined, relating to
style in play production. Required for nontheatre
majors prior to registering for SPCH
O 4337, or the courses may be taken concurrently.
A minimum of 30 laboratory hours is
required.
2373 Oral Interpretation of Literature (3-3-0)
Sharing literature through effective oral reading.
Cutting, adapting, and compiling script
materials for presentation by individuals and
groups. The informative and persuasive uses of
literature in academic and community settings.
Offered fall semesters only.
3371 Creative Dramatics (3-3-0)
Study of learning patterns of children; creative
techniques for teaching various subjects; and
the physical, psychological, intellectual, and
social skills available through creative roleplaying.
Requirements include work with
children.3372 Phonetics (3-3-0)
A study of the structure of speech sounds; symbolization
through the use of the International
Phonetic Alphabet.
Suggested for elementary and secondary
education students.
4371 Teaching Speech and Drama (3-3-X)
Objectives and methods of teaching speech
and drama activities on the secondary level.
Fifteen hours of public school observation are
required.
Prerequisite: 12 semester hours of speech or
theatre. Offered fall semester only.
4373 Readers Theatre (3-1-X)
Adaptation and public performance of poetry,
prose, plays, and nonprint materials by groups.
A minimum of 50 laboratory hours is required.
Prerequisite: SPCH 2373. Offered spring
semesters only.

1131, 1132, 1133, 1134, 1135, 1136, 1137,
1138 Theatre Workshop (1-0-X)
A production laboratory. A minimum of 30 laboratory
hours is required. Workshop hours may
be taken in any of the following production
areas: lighting, sound, costume, make-up,
properties, scene construction, or publicity.
1333 Introduction to Theatre Arts (3-3-X)
Non-technical survey of the arts of the theatre,
the development of the theatre through major
historical periods, and the relationship of the
theatre to other art forms and to life. A minimum
of 30 laboratory hours is required.
2199, 2299, 2399, 2499 Special Topics
A special interest course focusing on selected
topics not otherwise offered at this level. Example
topics include Theatre Makeup and Stage
Movement. May be repeated for credit as topic
varies.
2334 Acting (3-3-X)
Basic theory and technique of acting. Physical
and vocal training for the actor. Scene analysis
and presentation. A minimum of 30 laboratory
hours is required.
2336 Scenography (3-3-0)
Study of the scenographic techniques necessary
to building the skills required for design
and technical direction in the performing arts.
The course will include sections on perspective
drawing, rendering, and construction
drawings.
3337 Theatre Lighting (3-3-X)
Basic design and technical aspects of lighting.
A minimum of 30 laboratory hours is required.
Prerequisite: THEA 2335.
