observing Mormon Pioneer Day
in Texas. Gov. John Connally by
official proclamation, designated
the Special day.
: The special day calls attention
to the settling of Mormons in the
Salt Lake (Utah) Valley on July
24,. 1847 following a long trek
from Nauvoo, 111., which began on
Feb: 4. 1846.
In about 1846, Mormons were
attracted to Texas, also, and set-
tled originally in Travis County.
There 'they built the first Austin
jail, opened the first grist mills,
carved native wood and made it
into furniture, and maintained a

NOTICE . . .
There has been some misunderstanding concerning the operation of
our business since we have moved to Andrews and opened a branch
operation. We would like for this to serve as notice to our friends
and customers that the same service continues in Seminole with the
same phone and the same address. I am personally in Seminole each
day and can be contacted as in the past. Mr. Harrol Futrell, who is
foreman, has the authority to transact any business in my behalf.
