SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY CATALOG
ADMISSION
The Colleges of Southwestern University will receive into the student
body those young persons whose intellectual ability, sturdiness
of character, and strength of personality give largest promise of
profiting by the campus experiences and of becoming alumni of whom
Southwestern may be proud.
Information for Prospective Students.-The enrollment of the
Freshman classes in the College of Arts and Sciences, Georgetown, is
limited to 300; the School of Fine Arts, Georgetown, to 75; Westminster
College, Tehuacana, to 150, and Daniel Baker College, Brownwood,
to 250.
The Trustees of the University have established the limits for the
several colleges of the University, and the total student bodies are
limited as follows: College of Arts and Sciences, Georgetown, 700;
School of Fine Arts, Georgetown, 150; Westminster College, Tehuacana,
300; Daniel Baker College, Brownwood, 500.
For the period of Veterans' Training, the limits will be suspended
to accept qualified veterans in excess of this number.
The work of the freshman year consists largely of required subjects,
most of which are six semester-hour courses. In keeping with a
long established policy, no credit is given for the first, semester's
work in a continuous course until the second semester has been successfully
completed. This being true, freshmen in all of the Colleges
of the University should understand that they are enrolling for a
year's work and that no transfer of credits will be made at the conclusion
of one semester's work.
The School Year.-Freshmen and other new students will be admitted
June 14, at the beginning of the summer term; September 12, and
at the beginning of any semester or term thereafter.
The college year consists of the "long session," which is comprised
of the fall and spring semesters of eighteen weeks each. The summer
term is nine weeks in length.30
