GENERAL INFORMATION BULLETIN
Social Events and Public Performances.-Parties, banquets, picnics,
and similar social functions may be arranged by student groups provided
written permission is obtained from the Dean of Men or Dean
of Women and of both Deans in case of mixed groups. This regulation
applies to similar social functions for fraternities and sororities.
The time and place of such functions shall be made of record on the
University or College calendar in the Registrar's Office.
Special Regulations Governing Fraternities and Sororities.-For
purposes of initiating new members, fraternities and sororities must
have an average grade of 80, on the previous semester's work. Pledges
to be eligible for initiation must have an average grade of 77 on a
minimum of 15 semester hours of work and must otherwise be in good
standing. The eligibility of each pledge must be certified to the appropriate
officer of the Fraternity or Sorority in question by the
Chairman of the Faculty Committee on Organizations.
Fraternities and Sororities may not break a pledge or otherwise
separate a member from their organization for disciplinary reasons
involving moral turpitude without the approval of the Chairman of
the Discipline Committee.
Fraternities wishing to maintain houses may do so only with a
housemother approved by the Administration or a member of the
Faculty living in the house with them.
Other regulations must be obtained from the Faculty Committee on
Fraternities and Sororities.
Payment of Accounts.-The terms of payment are in advance at the
beginning of each semester. If by special arrangement deferred payment
is permitted, all amounts due the University at the close of the
semester must be paid before final examinations may be taken.
Bulletin Board.-Announcements of general interest are posted on
the official bulletin board and the student is charged with notice of
them.
Change of Address.-If a student, after registration, changes his
home or his local address, he is expected to notify the Registrar in
writing at once. He will be held responsible for any communication
from the administrative offices sent to him at the address last given
and may not claim indulgence on the plea of having moved and therefore
of not having received the communication.
Withdrawal from the University.-A student in good standing and
of legal age may receive an honorable dismissal upon his own request.
A minor in good standing may receive an honorable dismissal
at the request of his parents or guardian.41
