should be planned so that some advanced work may be taken in
the junior year.
135. English History. This course is a study of English
explorations and colonies, relations with France and America, industrial
revolution, political and social reforms, the new imperialism,
the self-governing colonies, and the World War.
Spring quarter.
245. Ancient Civilization. A brief survey of the contributions
of the ancient world to European civilization, the development
of the political, social, and economic life of the Greek
people, and the growth of the Roman system of government.
352. World Politics. This course shows the development
of World Politics, nationalism, imperialism, and internationalism.
The cause of the different wars and difficulties between the
different nations are studied, together with the analysis of the
different treaties.
363. Hisory of the Near East. This is a survey of the
history of the Balkan states, their relations to the different
European powers, their rivalries, their problems, the Balkan
Wars, and the World War. A detailed study of the Turkish
Empire is given. Spring Quarter, 1929-'30.
372. History of the West. This course pays special attention
to history of the frontier days, westward expansion, Indian
troubles, early trails and outposts. Texas history is especially
