321.-Music Education. This course emphasizes methods of teaching
music in grades one to seven. Outline of work in each grade,
rhythm, metre, scales, interval, triads, sequentials, terminology, ear
training, sight singing, songs, music appreciation and correlation
with other subjects.
322.-Teaching Appreciation Through Music. Music Appreciation
and its relation to the public school. This course is designed to acquaint
the student with standard vocal and instrumental compositions
and to cultivate the art of listening and appreciation of good music
from the classic, romantic, and modern periods.
Private lessons in piano and voice will be available to those who desire
to take this work.
331-332.-Teaching of Woodwinds and Brasses.
253-254.-Band Directing. These courses include the physical aspect
of directing, fundamental position of "beats," left hand signals;
proper coordination to right hand, interpretation, accenting, basic
problems, the "fermata" and release, pick-up notes.
372.-Methods in Music Instruments. A survey of the instruments
of the orchestra and band; tone-quality; transposition; possibilities
of instruments.
393.-The Marching Band. This course deals with how to arrange
band students in drill sections according to instrumentation, fundamentals
of drill commands and executions, and with special drills
and formations.
394.-Bandroom Management and Organization. This course has
to do with teaching procedures and methods of handling materials,
the organization of classes, band boosters' clubs, library materials,
and care of equipment.
DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES
321.-Second Year Spanish. For those who have had two years of
Spanish in high school or one in college. Grammar review and intermediate
reading, conversation, and composition.
322.-Second Year Spanish. For those who have had 321 or three
years of high school Spanish. Readings from Spanish American
