MA in American
Religious HistoryAdvisor: Dr. John L. Robinson
The Department of History offers Master of Arts
degrees in History and American Religious History.
These programs are intended to prepare students
for careers of teaching in schools and colleges and
for positions in government, business, social
service, historic archives, and historic restoration
and preservation projects. The MA in History is
broadly conceived and broadly based, allowing the
student flexibility of emphasis in consultation with
the advisor. The MA in American Religious History
is offered in cooperation with the Department of
Bible.
Both degrees are 30-hour, thesis programs which
require that at least half of the student's total
hours to be taken at the 600 level and that the
student be proficient in a foreign language
approved by the advisor. The language requirement
may be satisfied by submitting college credit
equivalent to that required for the BA degree in
history at ACU or by demonstrating ability to read
literature of the major field in the language.
