HOWARD PAYNE COLLEGE
over twenty-one years of age may be admitted without examination
or diploma. Upon completing two college majors in
each of the needed departments such students will receive
credits for the preceding high school units. Two majors completed
in English, Mathematics, History, Science, Foreign
Language, or Vocational subjects, with satisfactory grades will
give credits also for three preceding high school units in each
subject.
The following is the list of units prescribed for Entrance:
English 3, History 2, Algebra 1, Plane Geometry 1, Civics /2
unit including constitutions of United States and Texas.
Elective units may be made up from the following subjects:
English 1. Social Sciences: Ancient History 1,
Modern History 1, American History 1/2 or 1, English History
1/2 or 1, Civics 1/2 or 1, Economics 1/2. Mathematics:
Solid Geometry 1/2, Trigonometry 1/2, Advanced Arithmetic
1/2. Foreign Languages: Latin 2, 3 or 4; Spanish 2, 3 or 4;
Greek 2, 3 or 4; German, 2, 3 or 4; French 2, 3 or 4. Natural
Sciences: Biology 1, Botany 1, Chemistry 1, Introduction to
Science 1, Physics 1, Physiography 1/, Physiology and Hygiene
/2, Zoology 1. Vocational Subjects: Agriculture /2 to
2; Bookkeeping 1, Commercial Geography 1/2, Commercial
Arithmetic /2, Commercial Law 1/2, Home Economics 1/2 to 2,
Stenography and Typewriting 1 or 2, Typewriting 1/,
Mechanical Drawing 1, Manual Training 1 or 2. Other Subjects:
English Bible 1, Public Speaking 1, Music 1.
Not more than four units may be accepted in any one
group.
Students will be required to pursue college courses in
accordance with their high school preparation.
ADVANCED STANDING
Students from Colleges and Junior Colleges will be granted
credits in accordance with the rating established by reputable
