Reports on
January Meeting
Dear Members,
Our lodge held its first meeting of
1995 on Sunday, January 8 at the
Hallettsville Youth Center at 2 p.m. with
President Annie Vahalik opening the
meeting.
The Pledge to the flag was recited and
“America the Beautiful” was sung in
English and Czech.
Annie recognized and thanked Adolf
and Valerie Motal for donating a bingo
set for the members to use and enjoy at
our meetings.
She then thanked the members for
their cooperation and support while she
served as President Annie then received
a standing ovation from the members for
the great job she did as lodge president
for many years.
District Six Director Matt Vaněk was
present and installed our officers for
1995.
Newly installed President Joe Siptak
then took charge of the meeting and
asked Secretary Erwin Holý to read the
minutes of the last meeting which were
approved.
Treasurer Helen Zabranský gave her
report. Fraternal Activities Coordinator
and Více President Lillie Baíusek report-
ed on upcoming SPJST events.
Sunshine Committee Chairman
Margaret Smotek said the monthly bingo
at Stevens Convalescent Center was a
success and thanked the following mem-
bers for assisting: Elsie Mascheck, Mary
Matula, Jo Ann Matula, Vičky Zak,
Evelyn Holý, Leona Miculka and Lillie
Balusek. She also announced that mem-
bers celebrating birthdays in January,
February and March will be honored at
the next meeting.
Youth Leader Annie Vahalik reported
on the Youth Club activities.
President Joe Siptak and Vice
President Lillie Balusek appointed the
following committees for 1995:

District Director Matt Vaněk then
spoke to the members about the growth
and activities of SPJST.
The meeting was then adjourned. A
delicious lunch followed with Wilma
Wagner giving the meal blessing.
Dooř prizes donated by the lodge and
Director Vaněk were won by Holly
Llanes, Susan Siptak, Margaret Smotek,
Annie Vahalik, Erwin Holý, and Jeff
Holý.
Our next meeting will be Sunday,
February 12 at the Youth Center begin-
ning at 2 p.m. Following the meeting,
there will be games and dooř prizes.
Members with January, February, and
March birthdays will be honored with a
birthday cake to be given. Lunch will be
served as usual. Members and their fami-
lies or guests are cordially invited to
attend.

January Meeting
Lodge 10, Shiner met on January 19,
1995, at the home of Robert and Gladys
Veit.
The minutes and treasurer’s report
were approved as read. AJ1 business was
taken care of.

Dear Members,

The fraternal hour luncheon buffet

Forty-eight players traveled from as
far as Fort Worth, Granger, Weimer,
Schulenburg, Hallettsville, Elgin,
Houston, Freeport, Corpus Christi, San
Antonio, Louise, and El Campo.
James Bacak, Tournament Chairman,
was assisted with the activities by Frank
Klinkovsky, State Fraternal Activities
Coordinator, and Mr. Klinkovsky’s wife,
Irma.
Franklin Schlesinger kept the players’
scores on his personál Computer.
Franklin and his Computer helped make
the toumament go smoothly.
We would like to thank the lodge
members and also the non-members for
serving on the committees. With their
help and assistance, the chairman’s job
was much easier.

The meal committee prepared the
noon meal of chili, rice, and beans.
Everyone enjoyed this home-cooked
meal.
A big thanks to the ladies for the cakes
that were served with the lunch and the
aftemoon coffee.
Chairman Bacak and the members of
Lodge 40 wish to thank Mid-Coast
Distributing Co. of El Campo for the
refreshments, trophies and dooř prizes for
the tournament. Without their generous
donations, our tournament would not
háve been as successful as it was. Mid-
Coast donated four trophies for the first
four winners and collectors mugs for
dooř prizes.

Brother Schlesinger brought his Comput-
er and printer and kept good records of
the days total scores. Brother Bacak kept
things going and the players informed.
