VĚSTNÍK
own fate. With hard work and perse-
verance, you can do anything you set
your mind to. You can be lazy and put
off your classes, or you can go out
there and study hard, listen intently to
what is being taught, and succeed far
beyond anything you ever thought
yourself able to achieve. Personally, I
don’t want to be the run of the milí,
average, ordinary student. I wish to
work hard and achieve all that I possi-
bly can. I will not stop trying to learn
all that can be taught to me until there
is no more for me to learn, and then to
pass my experience and information to
another person with the same desire to
learn and succeed as I had. This schol-
arship is an enormous help for me to
afford, and be allowed the privilege of
leaming from these great professors
all that I can at one of these renowned
colleges. Thank you very much, and
háve a blessed day.
Sincerely,
Matthew Bellanger

Lidice art cle
Dear Vbsřrak/Melanie:
The recent articles on the two com-
munities that were monstrously de-
stroyed by the Nazis were excellent
reminders of the horrors of war and
the need for understanding in our cul-
tures. Thank you!
The Lidice article mentioned the
sculpture of the children but did not
show it. I attach pictures taken at the
Lidice Memoriál and Museum of that
sculpture. The first shows the sculp-
ture as a whole and the next two are
closer.
Also, there is a picture of the part of
the memoriál from the Soviets. Our
2013 speaker Charles Heller (author of
“Prague My Long Joumey Home”)
who spoke at the SPJST Home Office
is at the right in that picture.
Thanks,
Bart Childs

Buckholts reports
on July meeting
The July meeting of SPJST Lodge
15, Buckholts was called to order at
5:06 p.m. by President Doug
Williams. Sandie Fischer led us in the
Pledge of Allegiance followed by a
moment of silence in memory of our
past members. We especially want to
remember our dedicated, longtime
member Hilda Burtis. Our meetings
will never be the same without her in
attendance.
All officers were present for the
meeting. It was so good to háve A.W.
and Lamerle Zajicek back with us and
are so thankful he is feeling much bet-
ter.
President Williams greeted every-
one and thanked all for coming.
