become an electronic node for DBAE within the southeast, with possible links to the proposed
Getty Network. SIEVA's proposed technology initiative includes the following:
" establishment of a SIEVA technology advisory board;
" SIEVA access to Internet for E-mail and file transfers;
" establishment of a SIEVA Gopher Server to contain SIEVA/DBAE units of study, SIEVA
written materials, newsletters, schedules, application forms, etc.;
" development of a SIEVA Traveling Technology Demonstration Unit that will
demonstrate available technology for DBAE;
" establishment of electronic data bases for SIEVA constituents (presenters, artists,
facilitators, museum resources, materials, video);
" exploration of applications for an images data base; and
" utilization of UTC's long-distance learning capabilities.
S. Program assessment and evaluation. SIEVA will continue to require its participating -
schools to complete a comprehensive site-based program self-assessment and long-range
planning process in DBAE to ensure the infusion of DBAE within school buildings and
communities served by SIEVA. SIEVA will refine its self-assessment and long-range planning
documents and make them available through its institutes and proposed SIEVA Electronic
Network.
6. CD-ROM materials/DEAE units of study. SIEVA proposes to create CD-ROM materials in
collaboration with UTC's Center for Excellence in Computer Applications based on works of art g
housed in regional museums participating in SIEVA's proposed SIEVA Museum Consortia (see
Networking Opportunities) SIEVA proposes to produce a CD-ROM disk containing seminal
works of art from the region, including historical, biographical, and interpretive
information. The information will be accessible on school PC's using easily available
shareware.
(d) SIEVA's Networking Opportunities
1. SIEVA electronic network. SIEVA proposes to create an electronic network among its
regional constituents in collaboration with UTC's Center of Excellence in Computer
Applications. The network will provide constituents access to SIEVA documents, newsletters,
long-range planning and grant application forms, E-mail, and resource lists. The proposed
electronic network may be made available as well to other Centers of Excellence and the
proposed Getty Network
2. SIEVA school consortia. SIEVA will maintain its school district consortia including
district representatives and satellite coordinators. Consortia communication will be expanded
to include access to SIEVA's Electronic Network.
3. SIEVA museum consortia. SIEVA proposes the expansion of its museum consortia to
regional museums serving currently participating school districts. Targeted museums include
