ELSESSER ON DALLAS BUDGET---
The estimated increase in spending for 1969 is
1
listed in the budget at four-million 626-thousand,
223-dollars. And the seven cent tax increase would
cover less than a million and a half of that.
But there will be an estimated 70-million dollar
increase in the county tax roll---and that will take
care of a lot of the new spending.
The County Auditor estimated that just to keep
up with the increasing demands for services---the
County would have to spend an additional 710-thousand
increase
dollars. And that "governmental cost of living"---if
you'd call it that is one of the three biggest items
in the budget.
The kiggest---however---is a pay raise for
county employees. The Commissioners approved 800-
thousand dollars for that. The money will be turned
over to Department Heads---in most cases---and they
will parcel it out to their workers.
