DALLAS NARCOTICS RAID
Allie Martin to Roy Eaton
The second narcotics raid in two weeks resulted in the
arrest of of eight persons in Dallas this morning. Dallas police
along with state and federal narcotics officers took part in the
roundup that began at five this morning. Those arrested today
were the subject of a dozen secret indictments returned by the Dallas
county grand jury last week.
Officers said that four persons who were companions of
the eight arrested early today were also jailed. All of them are
charged with the sale of heroin, speed and marijuana to undercover
officers.
At two of the locations raided today officers located quantities
of marijuana and other drugs. Officers told WRAP NEWS that as a result
of todays arrests several drug store burgularies will be cleared.
Lt. Frank Cornwall of the Dallas police narcotics section
described those arrested today as a totally different group from those
jailed in a similar roundup last week. Todays suspects were generally
from the Oak Cliff, East Dallas, and White Rock lake areas.
Cornwall said todays raids were a continuing phase of the
departments strict enforcement operatins against both narcotics
pushers and users.
