66 persons died at the end of a soccer game in a
massive pile-up at the bottom of a stairwell.
Investigators said a steel barrier -- set up at the
head of a stairway to channel the 80,000 persons
attending the match to the exits -- gave way underthe pressure of the crowd.
The massive human
pile-up resulted. All of the 66 victims were men and
teen-age boys.
108 others were injured.
