Lt. Governor Ben Barnes says he will order
a legislative investigation unless the state financ(
commission publically explains why it reportedly
wants to dump consumer credit commissioner Frank
Miskell.
Miskell resigned after reports circulated
that three board members wanted him to be fired.
He has regulated S&&&&&& the small loan industry
since 1963. Senator Don Kennard asked for the
probe after saying that lobbyist for the loan
industry had been bragging about their political

stands to loose millions of tax dollars if the
Nixon administration eliminates oil import quotas.
Barnes said the loss would result from
lower petroleu tax revenues caused by cheaper oil
prices which might follow the removal of the quotas
