Whether or not there has been a request for an increase in
Texas Auto Liability Insurance premiums is being disputed today. An official
of the insurance information institute has denied reports that requests have
been made to boost the premiums by 15 to 20 percent
Robert Bezucha denied any request had been made and said
any rate hike would be decided by the Texas State Board of Insurance.
He did not say that there would be no increase this year.
He said "I can see no way to avoid auto insurance incresesin
light of the facts already avaliable. He said "However, the extent of the
increase cannot be accurately predicted at this time"
His comments came a day after State Senator Mike McKool
charged that the companies plan to hike their rates on auto insurance at
least 1& %. He said the figures he quoted came from a press conference of the
Southwest insurance information services held in Dallas Monday'
-0Several anti-war pickets say they plan to march at a Houston
hotel where Vice President Spiro Agnew will address a Republican Fund Raising
dinner tommorow night. Plans for the demonostration were announced
by Miss Ann Springer of the Student Mobilization Committee to end the War.c
